Modern Computer

What is Modern Computer?

Modern Computer is a team of AI specialist agents for any business, made by Modern.ai. The agents plan the work, do it, check it and hand it back for approval, from sales follow-ups and custom reports to support replies, the month-end close and ad campaigns. Every agent reads the Company Brain first, a reconciled record of the business kept in its data warehouse.

Who is Modern Computer for?

Modern Computer is for any business that wants more done without adding headcount, from a founder running a company alone to teams with someone in every department, and for the agencies that do the work for clients. It works across sales, marketing, finance, support, operations and engineering. More than 140 businesses use Modern, many of them in ecommerce, and it has reconciled more than 9 billion data points.

What can Modern Computer's agents do?

Modern Computer has specialist agents for every part of the business, from sales, marketing and creative to finance, operations, engineering and legal, each with its own role, skills and model. They make image ads, landing pages, emails, social posts and slide decks, build reports from your real numbers, draft replies, plan projects and run multi-step missions toward a goal. The team keeps growing.

How is Modern Computer different from ChatGPT or Claude?

General AI assistants can't see your business, so their answers start from a guess. Modern Computer's agents read the Company Brain before they act, so the work starts from your real, reconciled sales, finance, customer and operating data. They also do the work rather than only advise, show what they made, and ask before anything risky. You can still use ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini: they can connect to your Company Brain through MCP.

Does Modern Computer replace my team?

No. Modern Computer works next to your people. Agents take on real work and check in when they need you, and every person gets their own avatar to handle the busywork around them. People stay in charge: they approve anything risky, and one control pauses all agent work across the company.

What is My Avatar?

My Avatar is a personal AI assistant that everyone at the company gets inside Modern Computer. It learns how you work, drafts in your voice, prepares a morning plan and a brief before each meeting, sums up your mail and can even stand in on a call. Colleagues always see it labelled as your avatar, never as you, and its chat and memories are encrypted for you alone.

Can my avatar act on my behalf?

Only as far as you allow. Area by area, from messages and calendar to money, you choose never, ask me first, mostly on its own, or on its own. Some things always wait for you whatever the setting: money above your limits, contracts, hiring, pay, anyone's access, sending files and anyone outside the company. Approval cards show the exact words and recipient before anything is sent.

Can Modern Computer build custom reports?

Yes. Ask for any report in plain words and Modern Computer builds it from your Company Brain, with charts, tables and the sources named. It never invents a number: if a source couldn't be read, it says so instead of showing zero. Reports can be downloaded as PDFs or slide decks built from your real numbers.

Company Brain and data

What is the Company Brain?

The Company Brain is the long-term record of your business inside Modern Computer, kept for 36 months on Starter and forever on Pro and up. It connects your email, docs, CRM, finance, sales and other tools into one clean, structured place your company owns, with reporting, attribution, cohorts, goals and a daily Radar brief on top. Every agent reads it before it acts, and campaigns, decisions and lessons stay even when people leave.

What is a data warehouse in Modern Computer?

A data warehouse holds one business's connected data: its store, ads and tools. Pro and Growth include one data warehouse and Enterprise two, each with 250 GB of storage, so there is nothing to set up or manage. Starter runs on live connections to your tools and can add a data warehouse for $99 a month. Agencies and companies with several brands can add more on any plan for $99 a month each.

Which tools does Modern connect to?

Computer's agents work in more than 80 apps, including Slack, Gmail and Google Workspace, Outlook and Microsoft Teams, Notion, HubSpot, Salesforce, Jira, Linear, GitHub, Asana, Zoom, Stripe, QuickBooks and Xero. The Company Brain also brings in data from Shopify; Amazon Seller Central and Vendor Central; Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and TikTok Shop, Pinterest, Snapchat, X, LinkedIn, Bing, Reddit, Taboola, Outbrain, MNTN and AppLovin; Klaviyo; Gorgias; ShipStation and Everflow. More than 30 native connections are live today, and Modern can build a connection to any other tool with a documented API on request.

How long does setup take?

Connecting your tools takes under 30 minutes, with no engineers. You brief agents in plain language, the way you would a colleague, so there are no prompts to write and nothing to install.

How long does Modern keep my data?

Starter keeps 36 months of history. Pro, Growth and Enterprise keep everything, forever. Because ad platforms delete detailed history after a set window, Modern keeps the reconciled record off-platform, so year-over-year comparisons, lifetime cohorts and attribution survive platform changes. See how long each ad platform keeps your data.

Why do Shopify, Meta and my finance numbers disagree?

Each platform counts sales and conversions its own way, and ad platforms tend to credit themselves. Modern reconciles them into one source of truth with real attribution. In one case a skincare brand was told by Meta its cost per acquisition was $27; Modern showed the real figure was $274.

Can I use Claude or ChatGPT with my company data?

Yes. Modern runs a remote MCP server, so Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor or any MCP client can read your real business data in about two minutes with an API key. Every tool is read-only, and keys are hashed, expire after a year, can be revoked and are rate limited. MCP access is included on Pro and above.

Trust and safety

Can Modern Computer's agents act without my approval?

Not for anything risky. Agents ask first in plain language, you approve once or deny, and every answer is logged. Deletes, payments, outside sends and credential access always wait for a person. Agents get no terminal, browser or code tools until a package is reviewed and signed off, and one control pauses all agent work.

Is my data safe with Modern?

Yes. Modern is SOC 2 compliant. Your Computer sits behind your company's own sign-in, with no stored passwords and permissions enforced by the server. Each company's Company Brain is isolated and encrypted in transit and at rest, and every action is kept in an audit trail. Growth and Enterprise run on a dedicated machine of their own.

Which AI models does Modern Computer use?

More than 300 models, every one with zero data retention, including every frontier model for language and reasoning, coding, image, video and voice: Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Qwen, Veo, Sora, Kling, Nano Banana, ElevenLabs and more. New frontier models are available within 48 hours of their general API release. Most work runs on fast open models, and harder tasks use frontier models. Admins can compare models on quality and cost, switch the one each agent uses, and see which provider handled every call.

Pricing and getting started

How much does Modern Computer cost?

Modern Computer has four plans, billed monthly in US dollars: Starter at $99 a month, Pro at $499, Growth at $999 and Enterprise from $2,999. Every plan is the whole Computer: the team of agents, the Company Brain and your history, with unlimited people. Plans differ in data warehouses (none on Starter, one on Pro and Growth, two on Enterprise), AI credits (2,000 to 15,000 a month), compute (from 1 vCPU and 2 GB RAM on Starter to 32 vCPU and 128 GB RAM on Enterprise) and the discount on tokens: 12.5% on Pro, 25% on Growth and 31% on Enterprise. Extra data warehouses are $99 a month each.

Which Modern Computer plan is right for me?

Starter is the essentials for one business getting started. Pro is for a founder and one or two operators, and adds MCP access and history kept forever. Growth is for a company with a real team, every department on, and runs on a dedicated machine with 24/7 chat support. Enterprise is for larger companies and agencies, with two data warehouses, a dedicated account manager, SSO and custom terms.

Is there a free plan or free trial?

No. Modern Computer has no free plan and no free trial. Plans start at $99 a month.

Does Modern charge per seat or per user?

No. Every Modern Computer plan includes unlimited people, with no per-person charge, and plans have no seats. Each plan includes the whole team of agents, and plans differ in data warehouses, AI credits, compute and token discounts.

What are AI credits?

AI credits pay for the work your team of agents does. Every plan includes a monthly allowance, from 2,000 credits on Starter to 15,000 on Enterprise. Harder tasks on frontier models use more credits. Going over the allowance is billed as you go, and you can set spending limits.

What happened to Modern Platform?

Modern Platform, Modern's reporting product, is becoming part of Modern Computer and is no longer sold on its own. Its Company Brain, history, reporting and daily signals now live inside Computer, where every agent reads from them. Existing customers sign in at computer.modern.ai.
